| Abstract | O objetivo desse trabalho é avaliar a variabilidade diária dos índices ZI, MI e UVI associada a 21 eventos de chuva extrema ocorridos no setor sul da região interior semi-árida do NEB (A2), e identificar o mecanismo precursor de eventos de chuva extrema associado. Os resultados mostram que o principal mecanismo causador de chuvas extremas em A2 é a aproximação de Sistemas Frontais (SF) no sul do NEB, os quais mudam a circulação atmosférica pré-frontal, propiciando condições favoráveis à chuva extrema in A2. Eventos não associados com SF foram relacionados com Vórtices Ciclônicos de Altos Níveis (VCAN) ou cavados em altos níveis localizados sobre o Oceano Atlântico Sul, próximo à costa. O UVI capturou bem o sinal da circulação pré-frontal proveniente do leste da Amazônia, confirmando que eventos de chuva extrema em A2 estão associados com fortes ventos de norte e de oeste ou fracos ventos de leste. ABSTRACT: The goal of this paper is to assess the daily rainfall variability of ZI, MI and UVI associated with 21 heavy rainfall events occurred in the southern sector of the NEB semiarid interior region (A2), and identify the precursor atmospheric circulation of mechanisms associated. The results show that the main mechanism responsible by rainfall in A2 is the approach of cold fronts in southern NEB, that changes the pre-frontal atmospheric circulation, contributing to create favorable conditions to extreme rainfall in A2. Events without cold fronts presence were associated with Upper Tropospheric Cyclonic Vortex (VCAN) or upper-level troughs over the South Atlantic Ocean, close the coast. The UVI has been caught well the pre-frontal circulation signal coming from eastern Amazônia and confirming that heavy rainfall events in A2 were associated with a strong northerly and westerly winds or a weak easterly wind. |
